Pekoe was outside by himself for months before people realized that he was living under a neighbour's deck. Pekoe’s profile is lengthy  because he has a couple of behavioural issues and the notorious “orange cat personality”. He needs cat knowledgeable adult owners with no balance issues - to be explained later. Pekoe was probably raised as an only kitten with people that teased him. He has no cat social skills and initially bit everyone (not to cause harm , but what he thought was fun?). Since being in foster care, Pekoe has learned to be respectful of other cats, he desperately wants to play with them but he is not well received so he plays energetically by himself. Perhaps a cat friendly dog would enjoy his roughhousing or maybe young male cat? Sometimes he hides and when people walk past he leaps to wrap his legs around them - thankfully he doesn’t use his nails. He also uses people like furniture if they are in his path, he will jump on a back or shoulder to continue his journey.  

People need to be aware of his messages -  he clearly demonstrates when he’s about to “play bite”. He doesn’t view hands favourably so, instantly removing hands from his space defuses this. Surprisingly it wasn't that difficult to trim his nails with two people and some distractions. 

Pekoe is affectionate and will climb into a lap or onto a shoulder to hug his people but he doesn’t want pets- just to be held. He allows being carried by one arm like a football but again no pets.   

Pekoe follows his people everywhere and has to know everything. He has been locked in closets, drawers and rooms because he scoots in quickly then hides. He does not dash outdoors but if the door was open too long he might follow someone outside. Pekoe likes to eat (cat food not people food) and when he’s hungry he gets grumpy - he vocalizes and escalates to stalking his people or positioning himself in their path. A few kibbles satisfies him - so is he really hungry or  doing it for attention?    

Pekoe is a complicated cat looking for a family that will continue  “hands are friendly rehabilitaion”  and enjoy his large personality.
