Sirius has a calm, loveable disposition and he will quickly work his way into your heart. He is a big, strong boy who is relatively independent, but doesn’t enjoy being home alone for long stretches. Sirius adores windows for watching wildlife, or just hanging out in a patch of sun while bathing, napping or just catching a breath of fresh air. He is learning how much fun toys can be to play with, and to play gently with his people. He sometimes gets the zoomies, but is generally a pretty mellow boy. His favourite toys are soft crinkle balls, springs, bags and little mice. Sirius sometimes swats (without using his claws) or gently bites as a way of communicating his dislikes. Usually his nips are relatively firm, but gentle, but if ignored he may bite harder. He often can be found just hanging out on a nearby perch while his fosters work in the kitchen, and can be relied upon to remind his foster when it’s time to take a break from their desk work, or for his next meal. Sirius purrs easily and loves getting pats as well as head and neck rubs. He has come to enjoy brief snuggles in someone's arms, or sometimes on their lap, but generally prefers to hangout nearby. He sometimes likes to sleep against, or more often near his people in the day. Sirius frequently enjoys sleeping on the bed at night, tucked behind his foster’s knees. It is suspected that he has food allergies so he eats a limited ingredient dry kibble purchased at a pet food store. He will seek out food on dishes left laying on counters or in the sink. Sirius prefers vertical scratchers and uses them well, however he sometimes needs redirection if he forgets. He is tidy with his food, water and litter. Sirius is a quiet cat, although he meows when he wants his meal, and you may get a cheeky meow back if you tell him ‘No’(even while he stops what he was doing). He ‘knocks’ on doors if he wants in, or out (paws at them) and often comes when he is called. He needs to be an only cat, but may be happy with a cat friendly dog. Sirius would do well in a family with older children who will respect his boundaries, or in a household where somebody will be home much of the time.
