Mortimer

Male DSH

DOB: August 11, 2024

Once Mortimer settles into new surroundings his character begins to develop. He becomes very interactive with his humans. He loves to play but can easily be distracted and seems to forget what he was playing.  He likes to be picked up for short periods especially if there is something interesting to see. This way he becomes quite relaxed. He is not a lap cat at this stage but is not shy about being close to you. He likes to sleep at the end of the bed every night. If he wants into a room he will let you know. He loves to explore draws and cupboards . He gets along with and enjoys playing with other cats, but could also be happy as an only cat in a home with adults who are around and present. Mortimer has had no interaction with dogs or children. He is very brave with the vacuum. We pretty well have to nudge him to get him to move out the way! He has been fine with adult guests and is not the least bit shy with them. He can be a bit sassy if he is not up for physical attention and needs personal space… His reaction is a very light nip and lick. Mortimer is so sweet and is a delight to his foster home. He is great company.

When the air turned dry in the winter he developed a slight cough. Frequency about twice a day. After a short dose of Prednisolone, a commonly prescribed inexpensive fast-acting corticosteroid for cats used to treat inflammation, his cough completely healed up. It is suspected he had a mild asthma episode that may not be a recurring event.
